Shark Gets Revenge After Trademark Infringement on Show

 I ran across an episode from Season 4 of the Dragons Den that is a classic example of what Not To Do when it comes to negotiating a deal with a Dragon or any Shark from the Shark Tank Show for that matter. The contestant just started an Auto Mechanic Shop Ms. Lube, a new auto repair shop that is run by an all female crew under the Mechanchik name. Jessica Gilbert entered the Dragons Den proud of her brand new All Female Auto Repair Center she named Ms. Lube. Immediately the Sharks notice a striking similarity between Jessica's business name and the Mr. Lube Brand that happens to be owned by non other then Jim Treliving, the Shark Investor sitting next to Kevin O'Leary. Without batting an eye Kevin asks "are you going to sue these people right away"?  Robert Herjevic is what some would call a genius with ideas ahead of his time. Robert first made his presence known back in 1990 when he started BRAK Systems which was an integrator of Internet Security Software. This was way back before most people even knew what the Internet was. Herjevic quickly realised the need and importance of security software and made a name for his business early in the game. He would eventually sell BRAK Systems to AT&T for a reported $30 million in 2000.  AT&T then gave Herjevic the position of "Vice President of Internet Security".

Robert then went on to become "Vice President of Sales at RAMP Networks" shortly before it was acquired by Nokia. Because his deal was completed before the Nokia deal, Robert was granted stock options (in the new company) which when vested earned him an additional $500k.

Even the Shark Tank needs at least one hard ass and someone you really never know what He's going to say, and Kevin O'Leary, you clearly have won the honors. Whether you love him (Mr. Wonderful) or hate him (Mr. Jackass) you have to admit, he sure knows how to leave a lasting impression. Maybe it's just me, but he sure seems to have no problem trying to low ball some of the Shark Tank Contestants just to see if they would accept such a ridiculous offer. I guess you never know til you ask and Kevin has no problems throwing out a low ball offer to get things rolling.
 Now depending on what the actual product or service is, O'Leary very we'll maybe just the Angel Investor your looking for. If you have a unique product that the intellectual property could be sold to a large corporation on a royalty basis,
